Huberd's Shoe Grease

Huberd's Shoe Grease uses a traditional, proprietary blend centered on beeswax and pine tar for waterproofing and conditioning rugged leather, containing no animal fats, tallow, or synthetic compounds, but it does include other natural oils and waxes, plus some petroleum distillates (like hydro-treated naphthenic distillate) in their mix to create a durable, softening leather treatment that can darken leather. 

Key Ingredients & Their Roles:

• Beeswax: Provides natural waterproofing, moisture, and has antibacterial properties, forming a protective barrier.
• Pine Tar: Offers deep conditioning, waterproofing, and antibacterial qualities, historically used to preserve leather and wood.
• Neatsfoot Oil (or similar): Helps to soften leather that has become hard or brittle, according to some sources.
• Oils & Waxes: A proprietary mix of fine oils and waxes, including petroleum-based components like hydro-treated naphthenic distillate and USP petroleum jelly (algoritin vegetal wax), adds to its conditioning power. 

What's NOT in it:

• No animal fats or tallow.
• No synthetic compounds or preservatives that cause thread deterioration. 

Best For:

• Heavy-duty work boots, hiking boots, saddles, and other rugged leather gear.
• It's great for waterproofing and softening but can significantly darken certain leathers, so always spot-test first.
